This last week was an important milestone for me as I was able to officially launch BlogTour 2011, a somewhat ambitious undertaking of bringing a group US and Canada based design bloggers to London for London Design Festival in September to talk, write and tweet about the festival and events we have organized for them . The concept for BlogTour was sparked by discussions I had with bloggers in NYC when I was there to cover the AD Home Design Show. There seemed to be an overall sense that Modenus can be a hub in the interior design industry, a hub for resources – both, products and people – project management, inspiration, conversation and information about international design events and exhibits.

We wanted the event to emphasize the nature of blogging which is often very enthusiastic, in the tone of voice of the individual writing it and stems from a true passion for the topic at hand, so while there is a basic structure of events with BlogTour, we’ve tried to keep plenty of space for everyone to write about things that they find inspiring and can cover as if they were there on their own.
We have a list of exciting events scheduled for BlogTour and you can follow along though posts created by us and our participants on Blogtour2011.com as well as on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #blogtour2011. Here are a few highlights:
A curated tour of 100% Design, generously offered by the visionary color trends forecasters at Mix Magazine. Mix has been a style bible for me since I discovered it early last year and if you haven’t seen it I highly recommend you catch up on this quarterly publication that is full of design and product inspiration.
A dinner, organized by our friends at mydeco.com, at Sir Terence Conran’s penthouse near the Design Museum. With a bit of luck we hope to catch a glimpse of the iconic designer himself.
A fabulous party amidst designers and brands like Bocci, Deadgood, Modus, Innermost and many more hosted in a debut presentation by Design Junction. A collection which, I am very proud to add, you can now also find on Modenus.
An afternoon at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour where we get to peruse some of the world’s greatest design collections, have tea and will meet two of our London based sponsors:
