London Design Week; Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.
As I have mentioned in a previous blog post, I have made contact with an Interior Designer called Sara Slade who has set up her own business and taken on the client list when her previous job at Clement Joscelyne ended as the company was forced to shut down. Her business has boomed and she kindly invited me to accompany her to London Design Week in Chelsea to view the interior trade show and build up a network of knowing people involved in her industry, see current trends with new collections and to get a feel of how she works to really see if it is what I want to pursue myself. I have always loved researching into the interior industry but the trade show really opened my mind to a whole new world I didn't even realise existed and taught me that a lot of names are linked together/owned by other companies. In this blog post I have attached links to suppliers and companies whose show rooms we visited and also pictures of the many brochures I collected and some of my favourite show room displays. It was actually my 21st birthday and I had a really brilliant day and Sara is a fantastic contact I continue to keep in contact with, she is a true inspiration and has made me more focussed to work hard and become as successful as her in this field of interest!

This is a candle worth £45 that I was kindly given as a birthday treat!

Designers Guild; this chair is a HUGE inspiration to my final collection and just proves that there is knitted upholstery being created into unique and exciting products and I am right on the market with my designs.

Osborne and Little; this was one of the biggest show rooms and shown on the image of the chair are some beautiful trimmings such as a delicate silk piping around the chair edge. I am looking to find some trimmings that would perfectly sit within my final collection products and I took great inspiration from the displays I saw.

Porta Romana; as well as seeing the fabric suppliers, Sara took me into other home accessory specialists you might not think about as being very important to bring a room together, such as the chosing the right lamp as a finishing tough.

Evitavonni; one of my favourite show rooms, the colour palette was very similar to my style and that of my final collection so I took many pictures to feed my ideas of how to show off my products and designs.

The canapes and champagne were in full swing, these are the mini cupcakes offered at GP & J Baker;

Although it blurred, I loved this innovitive photo at the cafe in the Design Centre, these wooden cuttings of cutlery hung from the trees surrounding the cafe. I really liked this creative idea and it resembles the work im doing with silverware in my final collection!
